Battle Report 01

Gamilon Empire Fleet

SBB Conqueror (Bragi)
SBCV Revenge (Fenris)
SBS Vortex (V-Prototype Norvi)
SDD Exterminator (Clio, Donar, Jarl, Jord, Lif, Syn, Wode, Vecha)
SDDM Eradicator (Utgard, Ymir)

EDF Simulation Fleet
SBB Yamato
SBB Borodino (Virginia)
SBC Hood (Gloire, Khair)
SFFG Airone (Ferret, Lynx, Cignu, Roe)

Turn 1:
The Gamilon Fleet begins in a tight formation, advancing at maximum acceleration of the capital ships.

The EDF Fleet also advances at a controlled pace, and in tight formation.

Turns 2 - 3:
The Gamilon Fleet continues to accelerate, determined to close the distance before the EDF's vaunted Wave Motion Guns can be brought online. On turn 3, the Vortex and Exterminators outpace the capital ships, and move into attack formation.

The EDF continues to advance slowly in an attempt buy time for the special weapons to charge. The escorts move out to guard the flanks.

Turn 4:
Continuing to accelerate, the Gamilon Destroyers each release mines across the path of the EDF fleet. As the ships enter medium range for torpedo's and missiles, the Vortex, Conqueror, Revenge and Eradicators combine to launch a huge salvo at the SBB Borodino.

EDF returns fire by launching torpedoes at the rapidly closing exterminators. Defensive fire takes much of the bite out of the Gamilon salvo; however the Borodino Radar is destroyed. EDF warheads destroy a SDD, and cause damage to another.

Energy and Shock Cannon fire is exchanged, and a lucky shot causes a magazine explosion in the SBC Vortex! (This design flaw will be corrected in the production version - Gen. Zorka)

Another Exterminator is destroyed, and the Yamato suffers heavy damage, claiming its radar.

Turn 5:
In a bold maneuver, the Gamilon SBCV seizes the initiative, and speeds across the bow of the SBB Yamato, dropping a full complement of Standard Orbital Mines and Encapsulated Magnetic Cluster Mines. Unable to turn away in time, the Yamato speeds into the minefield, taking terrific damage.

The EDF ships are forced to make hard turns to avoid the many minefields; however, their formation suffers from the evasive action.

Another huge missile barrage causes heavy damage to the SBB Borodino, and EDF torpedoes claim 2 more exterminators. The Gamilon SBB Conqueror makes a hard stress turn to bring the Heavy Energy Cannons to bear. Pulse and Shock cannons again pour on the fire, and the Yamato and Borodino suffer crippling damage.
An SBC Hood fires its Wave Motion Gun, and obliterates 2 exterminators!

Turn 6:
The Revenge manages to cross the path of the Yamato again, and drops another full complement of SOM and EMCM mines. Unable to avoid the mines, the Yamato explodes.

In a desperate move, the EDF SBC Hood attempts to maneuver to bring the Wave Motion Gun to bear. As it tries to acquire a target, it passes through a group of Standard Orbital Mines which destroy the command deck, killing the ship's commander!

The Airone frigates fire their last complement of torpedoes into the aft of the SBCV Revenge, causing it to disintegrate. Direct weapon fire combines to finish off the crippled EDF SBB Borodino.

Turn 7:
Morale flagging, the EDF force begins to withdraw. The SBB Conqueror crosses
the path of a pair of Airone frigates, and one is killed by SOM mines. The crippled Hood manages to finish off an exterminator, and the other Hood flies off into the sunset with a command deck to order a change in course.

Out of view, the Eradicators take a wide turn to buy time and recharge their energy cannons. A narrow victory for the Glorious Gamilon Fleet!
